Before you apply
- Have your proof of nonprofit status ready. In the US that's usually an IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter or proof of inclusion in a denomination's group exemption. Google and OpenAI both verify through Goodstack.
- Use the church's legal name and an email address on the church's own domain where possible.
- Read who may use the licenses. Microsoft, for example, allows grants only for paid staff and unpaid executives, not members.
Major nonprofit programs

- Discounted paid Workspace editions: one shown at $3.50/user/mo (1-year commitment), and Enterprise editions 70%+ off standard pricing. source
- Google Ad Grants: free Google search ads for nonprofits. The monthly grant amount wasn't shown on the page we checked. source
Eligibility: US: must be registered with the IRS as 501(c)(3), or be a group-exempt organization with proven affiliation to a central 501(c)(3). Verified through Goodstack. Governments, hospitals and schools are excluded; religious organizations are not on the excluded list.
Microsoft 365 for nonprofits
- Microsoft 365 Business Basic: grant, free for up to 300 users.
- Microsoft 365 Business Standard: $3.50/user/mo, paid yearly.
- Microsoft 365 Business Premium: $5.50/user/mo, paid yearly. source
Eligibility: Needs recognized nonprofit status (equivalent to 501(c)(3)) and a mission that benefits the local community. Granted licenses are for paid staff and unpaid executives only. Microsoft says members, donors and beneficiaries (it gives church members as an example) can't use nonprofit licenses. Whether a particular church qualifies is decided by Microsoft.

Religious organizations aren't on that list, but check Canva's full eligibility guidelines for your country.
OpenAI for Nonprofits (ChatGPT)
